Vera Backer

Vera Backer is a highly talented Dutch violinist. Growing up in a family where music played a central role, she fell in love with the violin at a young age. Since the age of seven, she has played with great passion and has been working hard to establish herself.

Vera received her first lessons from Rita Rouw at the Strijkers-studio Groningen. As a child, she received much recognition for her playing and was a finalist multiple times at the Haydn Music Festival, earning the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Haydn Youth String Orchestra. At the age of twelve, Vera joined the Young Talent Class of the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen, where she studied with Veselina Manikova until she was eighteen.

In recent years, she has participated in various competitions and courses, including the Aurora Festival and the Princess Christina Competition, winning awards for both her solo performances and her performances with the Backer Trio. Vera has a strong passion for chamber music; since 2020, she has been a member of the Silhouet Quartet. With this quartet, she performed at the Emmy Verhey Festival and received masterclasses from renowned ensembles such as the Alma Quartet and Cuarteto Casals.

Vera is currently studying at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Arisa Fujita.
