Thies Roorda
Thies Roorda studied at the Prins Claus Conservatoire in Groningen with Peter van Munster and continued his studies at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Paul Verhey. After his graduation he continued his studies in the United States with Geoffrey Gilbert. This is flute player of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra in Hilversum and also active in chambe rmusic ensembles. His regular pianist is Lodewijk Colette. He is also part of the Hummel Trio with cellist Dmitri Ferchstman and pianist Mila Baslawskaja. Many composers wrot emusic for him, such as Konrad Boehmer, Maarten Bon, Jean Françaix, Gottfried Michael Koenig, Joep Straesser and Isang Yun. Thies Roorda is flute teacher at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen. Besides this he is invited to give masterclasses all over the world: Italy, Portugal, Russia and Swiss.
