Sterre Hond

Sterre Hond (23) is a young classical pianist and composer with a fondness for the Romantic repertoire. In addition to these artistic influences, Sterre’s synesthesia has a unique impact on her musicianship. Because of her synesthesia, she sees colors associated with different tones and harmonies when she plays the piano.

During concerts and workshops, she shares her colorful sensory world as a synesthete. She does this through personal stories and self-created light projections that visualize the colors she perceives, often in combination with her own compositions. Sterre is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at the Prince Claus Conservatoire under Paul Komen. In 2024, she completed her Bachelor's degree at Codarts, where she studied with pianist Bart van de Roer.

Sterre contributed to the recording of music for the Broadway show The Pianist in New York. She has also won several awards, including the international "Young Talent Prize" at the Festival D’Anniviers in Switzerland.

Since 2023, Sterre has been working as an assistant to film composer Alex Simu. She has recorded music for various films and documentaries, such as Mother Suriname and Nesjomme. Additionally, Sterre has been featured multiple times on NPO Klassiek performing her own compositions live. In 2024, she appeared alongside Wibi Soerjadi at TivoliVredenburg during the NPO podcast festival Keihard Klassiek.
