Simon Haakmeester

Simon Haakmeester (1988) is a Dutch percussionist, composer, conductor, workshop leader and teacher. He works on various projects and works mainly in the amateur music sector. He teaches at various music schools and foundations. Besides that he is a conductor of the percussion ensemble Concordia in Middelstum and Soli Deo Gloria in Ommen. Both ensembles won the Open Dutch Championschip in the two highest divisions. Simon also composes music and makes arrangements for various (percussion) ensembles. 

Simon finished his bachelor studies cum laude at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in 2015. He continued his studies there on his master degree, specializing in New Audiences and Innovative Practices. His teachers were: Joeke Hoekstra (percussion), Luuk Nagtegaal (percussion), Tatiana Koleva (percussion), Guy Wood (Creative Leadership) and Marc van Roon (improvisation).
