Roza Herwig

The versatile mezzo-soprano Roza Herwig (1996) sings, acts, plays the violin, presents, and writes stage texts. Roza studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and continued her studies in the Artist Masters program at the renowned Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, where she graduated with honors in 2023. In addition to her classical singing studies, Roza pursued a Minor in Jazz singing. Roza takes on creative challenges and delivers colorful, innovative performances, combining various artistic disciplines. Among her works are: 'The Temptation of Vivaldi', 'DESIRE', children's shows 'Puss in Boots' and 'Storytime!', 'Fluttering' with the Nightlight Ensemble, 'Dream with me', and the impactful production 'Crazy he calls me', inspired by Poulenc's La Voix Humaine.

Roza has won various awards in the National Final of the Prinses Christina Concours, the Britten Violin Competition, and was nominated for the Talent Prize Overijssel. Recently, she won the Charters Surveyors Competition in London, the Kanjer Prize de Leest, and reached the semi-finals of the prestigious IVC in Den Bosch. She has soloed with, among others, the Noord Nederlands Orkest, Orkest van het Oosten, the Bauhaus Band, and the Dutch Chamber Orchestra, with whom she recently made her debut at the Concertgebouw. In early 2021, Roza played her first leading role in an opera production of Pierrot Lunaire in Munich (DE), and in 2022, she took on the role of Cherubino in a production of Le Nozze di Figaro for the Opera Gala of the NLC in London. In summer 2024, she will be seen in an opera production by Holland Opera.

Roza has attended masterclasses with, among others, Antonio Pappano, Margreet Honig, Emma Kirkby, Ann Murray, Jard van Nes, Susanna Eken, Ed Spanjaard, Charlotte Margiono, Claron Mcfadden, Mark Padmore, Julia Bullock, and Floris Visser.
