Renate Arends

Dutch soprano Renate Arends regularly appears on the concert and opera stages with repertoire that varies from early music to the contemporary oeuvre. She has worked with various conductors and opera stage directors and has a respected experience to her name. She is a welcome guest at orchestras in the Netherlands where she currently lives.  Recently she appeared with Amsterdam Sinfonietta and sang Chants d'Auvergne by Joseph Canteloube and in Mozart’s Requiem with  the Residentie Orchestra.

She has worked with conductors such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin (L'enfant et les sortilèges), Iván Fischer (Matthäus Passion), Marcus Creed (Die Schöpfung), Marc Albrecht (Carmen at  DNO), Jan-Willem the Friend (Ein Deutsches Requiem, Agrippina, Don Giovanni) and Manuel Lopez Gomez ( Bachianas Brasileiras ).

Renate sang with renowned opera houses such as The National Opera and Ballet in Amsterdam, Theater an der Wien, Opèra de Lyon, Opèra de Nice, Opèra de Nantes and Scottish Opera and performed a variety of opera roles.

Lieder repertoire has also been an important inspiration for the soprano. Her love for this more intimate form of musical performance has always been a great motivation. She gave recitals with pianists like Roger Vignoles and Paolo Giaccometti.

Renate Arends studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and did a follow-up study at the International Opera Center Netherlands and the Steans Institute in Chicago.
