Merel Wentink

Vocalist Merel Wentink enjoys collaborating with others to continuously explore new artistic urgency within and beyond the classical genre. Based in the northern Netherlands, she performs throughout the country with various ensembles and projects.

She is a member of IMMIX Vocal Ensemble (formed through the NKK NXT traineeship), with which she toured in 2022 as part of De Wildernis by Wende Snijders. She has also performed in various operas and music theater productions by Consensus Vocalis and the Nederlandse Reisopera.

As a soloist, she has portrayed numerous roles in both opera and oratorio, including The St. Matthew Passion, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and several contemporary operas composed for the Opera Forward Festival.

In Groningen, she sings with the baroque and folk ensembles Da Vida and Torf, serves as the artistic director of Classic Jamming (an improvisation platform for classical musicians), and creates music theater productions with DuoLaDiva.
