Mariya Medetova & Johan Girardin

Mariya Medetova and Johan Girardin form a unique duo, blending their rich and diverse backgrounds. They met when Mariya moved to Switzerland to study at the Haute École de Musique de Genève (HEM), and after collaborating on several school projects, they quickly realized their shared passion for performing together.

Johan, currently in his second year of a Master’s in Piano Performance at HEM Genève, has been dedicated to vocal studies since the age of 9. He has performed as a soloist with the Neuchâtel Symphony Orchestra and appeared on the Lausanne Opera stage, showcasing his talents as both a pianist and vocalist, adding multidimensional richness to their performances.

Mariya, a soprano from Kazakhstan, is now studying at ZHdK under the guidance of Diana Damrau. Her extensive training includes master classes with teachers such as Regina Werner-Dietrich, Mariella Devia, and Soile Isokoski.

Thanks to their diverse origins and backgrounds, their duo brings a unique approach to a wide-ranging repertoire, which they reflect in their concert activities. For both artists, this duo has become an essential part of their artistic careers, providing opportunities to experiment and explore new dimensions. Performing together allows them to share their love of music while opening doors to future exciting projects and collaborations.
