Luis Santos
Luís Tasso Athayde Santos (1999) is a Brazilian-Australian bassoon player. He lives in The Netherlands and works both as contemporary and as historical bassoon player with ensembles such as the Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht, Echo Antiqua Amsterdam, Les Vents Alizés, Meesters & Gezellen, Studio MusikFabrik, and Tura New Music. In 2019 he assigned the first modern composition for historical bassoon.
Luis won many awards, such as the Royal Schools Music Club Anniversary Award (2018), the Royal Over-Seas League Arts Travel Scholarship (2018), and the first Bendat Family Foundation Composition Scholarship (2018).
He currently studies historical bassoon and dulcian with Benny Aghassi at the Conservatoire of Amsterdam.
