Lies Akkerman

Growing up in a musical family, singing was the second nature of Lies Akkerman. After many detours in pop and jazz she ended up at the Prince Claus Conservatoire where she studied classical singing with Jitske Rots. She continued her studies with Margreet Honig in Amsterdam.

During her studies Lies was already performing a lot with various opera and oratoria and from 1995 on as vocalist / actrice in the classical comedy company Opera della Casa. With accordeon player Gertie Bruin she toured through The Netherlands with their opera show.

Next to her performances Lies is also a vocal teacher and is active as actrice. Together with pianist Hans Rosinga she performs a show with songs by a.o. Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Joni Mitchel.
