Leendert Runia

Leendert studies flute with Peter van Munster at the Conservatoire of Groningen, where he graduated in 1980. He simultaneously studied orchestral conducting with Alfred Salten and continued his directing studies with Francis Travis at the Musikhochschule in Freiburg. 

Leendert has been directing a large number of ensembles and choirs, such as the Salland Bach Choir and the Noordelijk Vocaal Ensemble (which he founded in 1984). He was a teacher at the Bundesjugendorchester Deutschland and at the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie. Since 1999 he works with the Noord Nederlands Concertkoor, the choir of the Northern Netherlands Orchestra.

Since 1985 Leendert is a teacher at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen.
