Jonas Šopa

Combining deep emotionality with rational and psychological control of the piano, the Lithuanian pianist Jonas
Šopa thrills European audiences with soul-lifting performances. Receiving his Bachelor's degree at the
Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, with a year of Erasmus studies at the HMTM Hannover in the
class of the world-renowned professor Ewa Kupiec, Jonas is currently pursuing his Master's degree at the HfM
Trossingen, in the class of Prof. Ingo Dannhorn.

Since 2009 Jonas has become a prizewinner of more than fifteen competitions in Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus, Austria, and France. Most recently, he has won the Second Prize in the 9th International Stasys Vainiūnas Piano Competition in Vilnius, in March 2022, the DAAD prize in May 2023, and the IrisMarquardt Foundation prize in May 2024. Constantly broadening his field of view and seeking inspiration, Jonas is also deeply passionate about portrait and artistic documentary photography, with a strong focus on the work of women photographers and the photographic traditions of the early 1900s. He is also learning acoustic recording engineering and cinematography.
