Jobine Siekman

Jobine Siekman is a talented cellist and a highly sought-after soloist and chamber musician in both the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. She has won soloist prizes, such as at the National Cello Competition of the Cello Biennale Amsterdam 2016, as well as awards with various ensembles, including the Alkyona Quartet and the Chloé Trio. For the 2019-2020 academic year, she was appointed as the Mills Williams Junior Fellow at the Royal College of Music in London. She previously earned a Bachelor of Music degree under Melissa Phelps and completed her Master of Performance in July under Richard Lester as an Irene Hanson Scholar. In The Hague, she studied at the (secondary) School for Young Talent with Lucia Swarts and Dmitri Ferschtman, and later in Gothenburg with Harro Ruijsenaars.

In 2016, she received the Anna Shuttleworth Prize for her interpretation of Bach at the Royal College of Music Cello Competition and was subsequently invited to perform the Second Bach Suite at the RCM Showcase Concert in Wigmore Hall. Earlier, she also won second prize in the final of the Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland competition. She has performed various cello concertos as a soloist with different orchestras.

Jobine is a passionate chamber musician and regularly performs in the Netherlands and England with the StringWood Ensemble, the Alkyona Quartet, the Volkmann Trio, and the Chloé Trio. Highlights of her performances include concerts at Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall, and the Concertgebouw.

Jobine received the Irene Hanson Scholarship, supported by the Royal College of Music, and is sponsored by the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds and the Hendrik Muller Fonds. She plays on a Lefèbvre cello, which is on loan from the National Musical Instruments Fund.
