Ilona Sie Dhian Ho

Ilona Sie Dhian Ho started her violin studies with Caroline Ingen-Housz. She continued her study at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Vera Beths, Davina van Wely en Jaring Walta. From the age of 11 on Ilona won numerous prices at national violin competitions such as Iordens Viooldagen, the Princess Christina Concours, de AVRO (radio) competition and the National Vioolconcours “Oskar Back” in Amsterdam.
Various study grants, such as the Fulbright Award, the Foundation Stage Performance and the Stichting Nederland-Amerika gave Ilona the possiblilty to study in the United States with Mauricio Fuks at the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington.
As principal of the Jeunesses Musicales World Youth Orchestra she toured through Canada en Europa, as solo player in the Manhattan Concerto of Siegfried Matthus in numerous large concert halls such as the Philharmonie in Berlin.
Ilona Sie Dhian Ho developed a special interest in teaching. Even during her own study years she was invited to teach at the String Academy in Bloomington. She was assistent of Mauricio Fuks during the Chateau de Champ masterclass in Paris as well as at the Sommer Akademie of the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Ever since her return to The Netherlands Ilona is teaching at the Prins Claus Conservatoire in Groningen and the Van Zweden School, a school for young, talented violin players. Since 2001 she also teaches at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Her violin methodics, with the goal of teaching students how they can teach themselves by use of creative practice methods, is followed with great interest by various violin players, teachers and musicians.
