Fiona van der Marel

Fiona van der Marel finished her Bachelor’s degree “performance” at the Prins Claus Conservatory in 2019. She entered (summer) schools of the Nederlandse Fluit Academie, The Scottish International Flute Summer School and the Metropole Academy and received masterclasses by Jacques Zoon, Emily Beynon, Michael Cox and Wissam Boustany.

During her studies she won internships at the Noord Nederlands Orkest and the Koninklijke Militaire Kapel Johan Willem Friso and played with several symphony- and windband orchestras like the Noord Nederlands Orkest, Koninklijke Militaire Kapel Johan Willem Friso, NASKA, the Noordpool orchestra and the Nederlandse Bach Academie. Fiona has a permanent position at the Nootstroom orchestra, conducted by Arnaud Oosterbaan. She’s a member of the “KRAKEN” ensemble and the “Onbeperkt Ensemble”, and is part of the organization of the “Jong Kamerorkest Noord”. Besides her work as a performer she also teaches privately and at music societies.
