Erwin Wiersinga

Erwin Wiersinga (1962) studied at the Stedelijk Conservatorium in Groningen with Wim van Beek. He also received his piano diploma with Gerben Makkes van der Deijl. After that he studied with Harald Vogel, Marie Claire Alain and Guy Bovet. Erwin playes a lot of concerts in The Netherlands and abroad and mane many recordings for radio and cd. One of the cd’s, ‘Orgelcultuur in Groningen’ was rewarded an Edison Award. In 2007 he was solo player at the Berliner Staatsoperwhere he played the organ solo from the Oper Doktor Faust by Busoni with conductor Daniel Barenboim. In 2004 he recorded with vocal ensemble The Gents the Requiem and Messe Cum Jubilo by Maurice Durufle. This CD got great revies both in The Netherlands and other countries and was listed in the French Classic today in the top 10 of best cd's of 2005 and was awarded the Classic Internet Award in 2005 in the USA. Erwin also recorded the complete works of Jehan Alain for NCRV Radio. In 2008 he recorded a cd with clarinet player Yfynke Hoogeveen with own arrangements of a.o. the Tombeau de Couperin by Ravel for organ solo and the clarinet sonata by Poulenc. Erwin has played with a large number of orchestras amongst which the Cocnertgebouw orchestra. Erwin is organ player at the Hisz organ of the church in Roden. Since 1997 he teaches at the Universität der Künste in Berlijn and the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen.
