Chistope Weidmann

Born in Metz (France), Christophe Weidmann received his First Prize in Viola, Music Theory and Chamber Music with distinction in 1997 at the METZ conservatory of music.He continued his musical education in Paris under Sabine Toutain, Jean Baptiste Brunier and Pierre Henry Xuereb, obtaining professional qualification with distinction. In 2004, he worked with Tobby Hoffman and Teemu Kupiainen at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Christophe Weidmann finished his viola education in 2006 graduating from Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris CNSM in the class of P.H.Xuereb.
Currently, Christohe Weidmann is a well-established professional, working as a principal viola in the North Netherland Orchestra. He has also worked as the leader of the violas in numerous orchestras, including Orchestre de l’Aube, Orchestre de Bretagne, Orchestre de Centre Tours Brussels Philharmonics (Belgium) and Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra (Sweden). Christophe is also an accomplished soloist, giving viola recitals and performing with orchestras.Christophe also specializes in contemporary music and has been invited to give a Dutch premiere of Yusupov Viola Concerto (piece written originally for Maxim Vengerov) in October 2010. In addition, Christophe enjoys playing chamber music, he is a frequent guest at some of the greatest European festivals, including Festival de Giverny, “La chaise Dieu”, “Bormes les Mimosas”, “Claviers en Poitou”, “Josquin des Pres” (France), Ameropa (Prague), and Jäärvenpää Sibelius Festival.
